Into the Dessert

Into the Dessert

If you're someone who has visited the USA, you're likely familiar with the wonders of the national parks. However, if you haven't, you can easily look them up on Google. The United States boasts a total of 63 national parks, each of which is breathtakingly beautiful and worth a visit. Though I've only been to a few, I'm already planning to explore more of them in the future. You can even get a National Park passport and collect stamps for each park you visit, which is a fun way to keep track of your travels. It might sound nerdy, but I think it's a cool idea! I had planned to get one for myself, but at the time, I didn't have the funds to spare. Instead, I decided to put my design skills to use and create something unique.

Our first destination wasn't a desert, but it sure looked like one. White Sands National Park is an awe-inspiring place where water once covered the entire area before evaporating and leaving the world's largest gypsum dunes behind. It's a must-see destination, and I highly recommend checking it out on Google. The sand there feels cool and wet in your hands, much like the sand toys kids play with.

After visiting the park, I was keen to camp nearby. I used FreeCampSite.com to find a spot with a breathtaking view, which you can read more about in (Car problems! who!). Driving around the area was pleasant, but I regretted not having a 4-wheel drive to explore more. There were RVs and campers everywhere, but unfortunately, camping on-site wasn't allowed due to restrictions related to COVID-19. If you're ever in New Mexico, this place is a must-visit. Pack a picnic and a snow sled and enjoy your day.

The craziest part of the trip was when the car started overheating within the first hour of entering the park!
